THE GREENS AT NORWEST

Plans for The Greens development proposal for Solent Circuit Norwest have been approved by Hills Shire Council and now go before the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.

The $1 billion master planned residential proposal by Mulpha will be built on 3ha of landscaped parkland of which 70 per cent will be community open space.

A series of nine high-rise towers, ranging from eight to 26 storeys, will house a total of 864 residential apartments within walking distance to Norwest Station.

The proposal includes parkland, more than 320 trees, a public plaza, an amphitheatre, a performing arts stage, community gardens, a sculpture park, a Sanctuary garden with water feature and barbecue areas.

There will be more than 6000sqm of commercial business space, cafes, restaurants, neighbourhood shops, a gym, medical services and childcare centres in the planned mixed use precinct.

Mulpha Executive General Manager, Mr Tim Spencer called the planned development “next generation”.

He said designing buildings that were taller and skinner enabled The Greens to landscape 70 percent of the site.

“There is a whole movement about designing buildings that provide healthy spaces,” Mr Spencer told the Hills to Hawkesbury.

He said the emphasis was on wellness. “It’s about sustainability and liveability.”

The project is accompanied by a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) which includes upgrades to lighting and pedestrian security measures around Norwest Lake, contributions for open space, playing fields, community facilities, footpaths, cycleways, intersection improvements to Norwest Boulevard and a new signalised intersection at Solent Circuit East and Norwest Boulevard.

Mr Spencer said: “Mulpha has made a long-term commitment to the transformation of Norwest Business Park into Norwest City, a world-leading innovation, lifestyle and economic hub.

“The Greens is a critical piece of the vision establishing a vibrant residential town centre within 500 metres of the new Norwest Metro Station.”
