“ROCK STAR” JOB

Arnolf Keil (pictured) thinks he has the best job going at Endeavour Foundation Business Solutions in Castle Hill.

“Forklift drivers are kind of like the rock stars [here]!” he said. “When I started here, I asked my boss if I could go for my forklift test. Then Endeavour Foundation paid for my forklift license and I got it.

“I was so happy when I got my license – my boss Gary was a good boss for that and my dad was happy too.”

Endeavour Foundation, the disability service provider, is currently hiring and jobs on offer include general packing, sewing, warehouse duties, forklift driving and more.

It employs more than 400 people with disability at Castle Hill, Seven Hills and Mt Druitt providing work and general skills development.

Endeavour Foundation’s NSW and VIC General Manager Carlos Aguado said seeing people come out of their shells and gain confidence was always a highlight.

“The benefits of having a job are abundantly clear, particularly for people with intellectual disability who often face exclusion or discriminatory attitudes in mainstream workplaces.

“Employment not only provides an income but it also has important benefits to mental and physical health, emotional wellbeing, social inclusion and feelings of self-worth.”

“Supported employment, goes above and beyond what’s offered in mainstream workplaces… everyone should have access to meaningful employment if they choose to.”
