Orange Blossom Festival associated events will delight locals

The Orange Blossom Festival is fast approaching, promising Hills residents a weekend full of family fun, showcasing the incredible services and talent on offer in The Hills.

As well as the Main event on September 17 & 18, The Orange Blossom Festival is proud to support some great associated events which will take place in the days leading up to, as well as across the festival weekend.

The Seniors Dance

A social outing for seniors with old-style dancing, complete with music from the era and dance boards (1930s & 1940s inspired). The Seniors Dance is a wonderful opportunity to dance the afternoon away and have fun with peers. Lunch and afternoon tea provided.

From the Mountain to the Sea- Bonsai Exhibition

‘From the Mountain to the Sea’ is a public display of Bonsai run by the Bonsai Society of Australia including a Bonsai Clinic where the public can bring their own trees for help and advice and includes a ‘Build a Bonsai’ workshop for kids.

Orange Blossom Festival Annual Art Awards 

The OBF Annual Art Awards, run by the Castle Hill Art Society, includes an exhibition and sale of approximately 300 paintings and sculptures from local adults and children.

Rotary Cross Country Challenge

The Rotary Cross Country Challenge is a running event comprising of a 10.5km, 7km and family 2.2km run around the historic Bella Vista Farm Park. Run by the Rotary Club of Castle Hill, the Cross Country Challenge aims to raise funds to reduce domestic violence in The Hills.

The Hills Garden Competition

The Hills Garden Competition recognises the excellent gardens in The Hills district and fosters a sense of pride in the community. Entries for this year’s competition close on 9 September with judging starting on 12 September, 2016. The Open Garden Weekend on Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 September allows locals to view some of the Hills Garden Competition finalists.

The Powerhouse Discovery Centre Open Weekend

This weekend celebrates the opening of the Museums Discovery Centre with free activities for the whole family. Get up close with Australian wildlife and meet Winny, the Australian Museum’s dinosaur; see vintage cars and Meccanno displays; get hands on with kids science workshops, weaving and retro games; and tag along for talks and tours with the expert teams from the three museums. Plus visitors can catch a ride on the Centre’s vintage bus, which will be providing a shuttle service between the Discovery Centre and the Orange Blossom Festival.
