Glenhaven’s Community Tree

The much-loved Glenhaven Christmas by Candlelight has been cancelled this year but its legacy is set to grow.

Members of the Glenhaven Carols Committee, along with support from The Hills Shire Council have planted the Glenhaven Christmas Tree at Glenhaven Oval to mark the 20thanniversary of the community event.

Chairman of the Glenhaven Carols Committee Mitchell Blue said they were disappointed to have to cancel this year’s event but people were understanding.

“The Glenhaven Carols By Candlelight has become the main event of the Glenhaven calendar. It is an event where a significant number of residents come together to celebrate Christmas, catch up with friends, sing some carols and keep the Christmas spirit alive.

“There are many disappointed residents this year, however all have been very understanding.

“The tree will grow with the community and become an important part of next year’s event.

“We have already seen community members come to the oval to decorate it. In years to come, children will remember the tree and grow with it! It may even become the focal point for Santa photos in the future.“

“With the luscious green grass of Glenhaven Oval as its backdrop, as this tree grows it will be the perfect place to grab a blanket, sit beneath enjoying a coffee, watching a game of cricket or soccer or just a great place to read a book.

If people do take selfies by the tree they are asked to use the #aglenhavenchristmas and post their photos on the Glenhaven Carols By Candlelight Facebook and Instagram pages.
