Executive Of The Year

CEO Magazine’s Not-for-Profit Executive of the Year 2020 is Winston Hills resident Arani Duggan, Head of Marketing & Fundraising at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney.

As an independent not-for-profit, fundraising is vital to help RMHC GWS continue to support over 2100 families a year from the Westmead facility, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The move from the 18 room House to the current 60 room ($40 million) facility in February 2018, brought with it increased pressure to raise additional revenue. Then in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and with core fundraising events and programs suspended, Arani and her team – all of whom were working from home pivoted to ensure its support for families in need could continue. A new virtual campaign, Dance for Sick Kids was born, exceeding its fundraising goal and attracting international attention, with the campaign set to run nationally in 2021. Arani credits her team of seven for the exceptional results they’ve achieved together.

Her own inspiration she says, comes from the families that stay at Ronald McDonald House. “They’re going through the toughest journey imaginable, and their resilience, generosity and spirit are awe-inspiring.”
