End of Summer Party at Richmond Swimming Centre

Free entry to the pool, free entertainment, free sausage sizzle and a great way to cool down, what more do you need to join Richmond Swimming Centre in seeing out the end of Summer on Saturday, 18 February?

So slap on your hats, sunscreen and swimmers and meet your friends at the pool for a family fun day from 11am to 2pm.

Fun activities will include a jumping castle, a giant water slide and, for those aged eight years and over with substantial swimming ability, the U-Rippa Rip Generator. The first 100 people on the day will also receive a free giveaway.

Located at East Market Street, Richmond, the Richmond Swimming Centre includes a shaded baby pool, an intermediate pool, a six lane Olympic pool and change rooms as well as a shaded children’s playground.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett, believes it will be a great way for the community to connect, visit their local pool and share in the celebrations.

“Hawkesbury City Council has waived the entry fee at the pool for the celebrations,” Councillor Lyons-Buckett said.

“The free sausage sizzle is sponsored by Council and cooked by the Rotary Club of Richmond. Council will also provide free snow-cones for dessert.”

“My thanks to the Rotary Club of Richmond for their kind assistance,” the Mayor said.

The kiosk will also be in operation as usual with ice cream, food and refreshments available to purchase.

The Richmond Swimming Centre was originally constructed in the early 1960s and since then it has received several upgrades to enhance the water quality and filtration levels, as well as the addition of thermal blankets to boost water temperatures at the start of the annual pool season in spring. Other facilities added over the years include a half-court basketball area, a change room upgrade, and picnic areas.

The Centre is open seven days from September to April and is a great venue for sport and recreation. So cool off at the pool throughout this hot weather, and make the most of this great community facility.

Richmond Swimming Centre also offers after school swimming lessons in Term 1, 2017 and School Holiday Intensive Sessions during the summer school holidays. Birthday parties, club nights and squad sessions are also available.
