The season for giving

Christmas is a special time of the year – it’s a time to cherish our loved ones and a time which brings out the best in our compassionate and giving community.

I had the pleasure of witnessing this first-hand after members from our great Shire generously donated more than 150 presents including soft toys, books, building blocks, clothes, movie tickets, plastic cars and much more to my Christmas appeal.

Thank you to all the wonderful people who kindly donated to the cause.

It was great to see such a giving community at Christmas despite the many families facing hardships themselves.

Together we have been able to help bring cheer to many children who otherwise would have missed out on feeling special on Christmas Day.

We have plenty to be thankful for especially the high quality of life that The Hills provides.

There are rich open spaces, low crime, excellent schools and a forward-thinking approach, led by talented community members.

So, I encourage you all to enjoy the break and take a chance to reflect on what we have managed to achieve and the amazing opportunities that lie ahead.

On behalf of The Hills Shire Council, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and send my best wishes for 2017.
