SI IN ACTION IN THE HILLS

By BEV RICHARDSON

2020 has been a difficult year for Soroptimist International of The Hills. Fundraising opportunities have been severely reduced, all meetings conducted on Zoom with occasional social activities limited to requirements of Covid-19 isolation regulations.

An invitation from Bunnings to hold one of their initial BBQs on October 24 was a real boost to everyone and perhaps heralded the beginning of a return to “normal” Customers were delighted that they were again able to enjoy a sausage sizzle after a visit to the store.

With our 40th Anniversary celebration coming up on November 16 plans for a celebratory dinner have been placed on hold until next year but members will mark the occasion with a special anniversary cake at their last meeting of the year.

2021 also brings the 100th Anniversary of Soroptimist International as a global organization.

Members of SI in the Hills also made and sold Facemasks during September at Winston Hills Mall.

President Cathy Tracey said “If you would like to find out more about our Club and our activities over the past 40 years please email us and come along to a meeting. You will find a group of dedicated women joined together with a common thread to make the world a better place for many women and girls as well as have some fun and friendship along the way”.
