With temperatures rising and school holidays looming, parents will be reassured to know that Hawkesbury Regional Gallery in Windsor is offering a very cool program of things for creative kids to do this summer, starting with the Art/Dressing Room, where kids from two years are invited to drop in for FREE art/craft and dressing up activities, including a puppet theatre.
The Art/Dressing Room is now open and will stay open right through the holidays until Sunday, 5 February 2017 during opening hours. In January, there will also be a full program of workshops relating to the current exhibition, All Dressed Up. See activities below which will run from Wednesday, 11 January through to Friday, 20 January.
Wednesday, 11 January 10am-noon
Using layered foam sheets cut and create a pair of wearable bird or dragon wings. $15 – for school age children.
Thursday, 12 January 10am-noon
Paint a portrait of Barbie or a LEGO character. $15 – for school age children.
Friday, 13 January 10am-noon
Using a variety of materials make an awesome lion mask. $15 – for 10 years +.
PASSION FOR FASHION
Wednesday, 18 January 10am-noon
Create a vibrant painted life-size cut-out of yourself which you can then dress in your own trendy designer
paper clothes. $15 – for school age children.
Thursday, 19 January 10am-noon
Make your own Mad Hatters top hat with all the trimmings, just like Alice in Wonderland. $15 – for school age children.
Friday, 20 January 10am-noon
Learn how Wild Wig artist Colin Malzard uses foam to make the most outrageous wigs.
$20 – for 10 years +.
