Recognising inspirational women

The Hills Shire Council is looking for the region’s most inspirational women.

Nominations are now open for the International Women’s Day Awards 2017, which will be presented at the International Women’s Day: Western Sydney and Beyond cocktail party.

International Women’s Day is celebrated each year on March 8 and aims to recognise women and their achievements worldwide.

Mayor of The Hills, Councillor Yvonne Keane said the day was a chance to thank women in the community who have made a positive difference in the lives of others.

“International Women’s Day highlights the accomplishments of women and the steps being taken toward equality across the globe,” Mayor Keane said.

“On a local level, we look to this very special day to appreciate the achievements of women within our community.

“If you know someone who has contributed positively to the lives of others through leadership, sport, arts and culture, voluntary service or by empowering others, we want to give them the recognition they deserve.

“We are calling on you, the community, to tell us about these wonderful women by filling out a nomination form.”

Nominees must be aged 16 years and over and currently live, work or play in the Hills Shire Local Government Area.

To nominate someone, visit The Hills Shire Council website (www.thehills.nsw.gov.au) and fill out the online nomination form.

Nominations close on Friday, February 24 and winners will be announced at a special function at The Hills Shire Council on March 8.
