Panetta Mercato

Take a step inside Panetta Mercato at Stockland Mall at Baulkham Hills and you will find a whole lot more than quality fruit and vegetables.

Meredith Panetta has ensured the shop that carries her name offers the best and that includes the fully stocked European deli and the welcoming cafe.

Being on the lower level car park, near the Olive St entrance to Stockland Mall, offers a whole lot of advantages to those who want to park, shop and leave easily.

Meredith opened the Baulkham Hills outlet 18 months ago after 10 years in the business.

“I love good food,” she said. “I hate going into supermarkets and seeing average fruit and veg.”

While the store has a great range of fresh fruit and vegetables it also offers a lot more with ready-made meals that you can cook when you get home.

There are stuffed mushrooms and pumpkin hot pots as well as stuffed capsicums, guacamole and humus made on the premises.

If you want something more there is a selection of pizzas and quiches plus a huge range of meats, ready to grill, bake or barbecue which are both affordable and tasty such as a range of Braza meats.

You can also order fruit, meat or cheese platters and grazing boxes. While I did buy fruit and vegetables (plus a stuffed pumpkin to cook at home) I also enjoyed a very good coffee.

There are Panetta Mercato stores in Gladesville, Ryde and Marrickville but only Baulkham Hills has a café as well.

It offers a great line in cakes, including the much sought-after Papa’s ricotta cheesecakes from Haberfield.

You can also order Papa’s cakes online and pick them up from Panetta Mercato.

The café also serves some savoury treats including a range of stuffed panini rolls, arancini and toasties.

It’s a great way to stop, refresh and gaze at the produce and the deli which boasts over 100 different types cold meats, including 20 different salamis, plus cheeses from around the world as well as Australia’s finest.

The deli range is constantly expanding and now includes a large range of German and Russian products.

I love the fact that you can also buy edible flowers grown from Dural.

“Our customers are looking for variety but also quality at a good price,” says Meredith.

“If we don’t have a product, we will do our best to bring it into our store or offer an alternative.”
