NSW SES NEW WARNING SYSTEM

NSW SES WILL USE A NEW WARNING SYSTEM AT THE END OF THE MONTH

NSW SES will soon issue warnings using Australia’s new “AWS” warning system; – the three-level national alert framework will cover all emergency services organizations for all risks.

There are three levels in AWS –
* Advice
* Watch and act
* Urgent alert
At each alert level, there are a series of clear action statements to guide the community – for example, “always be informed”, “prepare to evacuate”, and “move to higher ground”.

With the third La Niña weather event scheduled for fall and summer, now is a good time for our residents and businesses in HAWKESBURY, COLO and MACDONALD VALLEYS to prepare for flooding and learn about the new warning system; and discuss with your family, friends and colleagues what YOU will do if or when you receive an alert.

Alerts will continue to be broadcast via the NSW SES website, NSW SES social media channels and the local ABC station.
