The NSW RFS advises Hills residents that crews will conduct a hazard reduction near Whitehall Road in Kenthurst from Saturday, 27 April, until Monday, 29 April 2024 (weather permitting).

The approximate size of the weekend reduction burn is 86 ha. It is expected to start at around 10:00 AM on Saturday, and the RFS advises that it is likely to continue into Monday.

Crews will remain on the ground into the night, followed by patrols. Traffic disruptions are expected over the duration of the burn. In addition, Annangrove Road will have a one-day reduced speed limit.

The NSW RFS mentioned that a helicopter would assist firefighters with the burn.

It will be conducted by Private, LALC—Deerubbin, The Hills, the Department of Planning, Housing & Infrastructure—Crown Lands, and Rural Fire Service.

According to the Seasonal Bushfire Outlook for Autumn 2024 by the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council, fire service crews have been given the go-signal to initiate prescribed burning during autumn to reduce possible community-damaging bushfires.

The fire potential for autumn this year is generally average.
