NEW YEAR = NEW OPPORTUNITIES

In every year, you’ll find highs and lows, and that’s what it was for Creative Activities in 2019.

A big highlight was celebrating 40 years since the start of the program, back in 1979 when the concept of craft classes for various groups of people was new and the program was swamped with retirees and stay at home mums who wanted to learn a new skill and make friends in the area.

We celebrated with a church service and lunch and there were many memories and fun times shared. On the sad side we lost one of our faithful art class members to cancer which has left a hole in our group. And now, it’s on to a new year.

Time to perhaps learn the gentle art of Tai Chi or spend time learning new crafts or mastering an old one.

Carolyn Sherriff (daughter of the founder of Creative Activities, June Long) said: “One thing I know for sure, Creative Activities is the place to make new friends, because sometimes very little stitching gets done while the talking manages to progress quite well.”

Classes include how get the best use out of your smart phone, tablet or laptop. There’s Tatting, Tunisian Crochet, Cross stitch and more. All the teachers and helpers at Creative Activities are volunteers.
