NEW DEPUTY FOR HILLS

Councillor Reena Jethi has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor for the The Hills Shire.

She takes over the role from Clr Alan Haselden.

Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne said: “I look forward to working with Clr Jethi as we continue to build on The Hills’ reputation as a great place to live, grow, do business and raise a family.

“Clr Jethi is a strong advocate for The Hills community, women in Local Government and those from diverse backgrounds, and I have no doubt she will continue the wonderful work carried out by the former Deputy Mayor, Clr Haselden.

“Clr Haselden has served the community well and will continue to be recognised as an advocate for safe asbestos removal, for retaining the character of the area and for his work on Council’s new tree policy.”

The position of Deputy Mayor will last for a period of 12 months.
