MITCHELL YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM 2016

The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, together with Miss Ronie Quinn, Chief Executive Officer, hosted 160 local students at the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum at Vision Valley from the 13 – 15 October 2016.

“The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum was an amazing success with 160 students from 15 local high schools involved – the Forum is a significant opportunity for the students to be inspired and encouraged for their future potential in the lead up to their final year of school.

“I pay tribute to the Principals for without their strong support the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum would not be as successful as it is each year, said Alex Hawke.

Students participated in team building activities, small group discussions, and a community service project at Anglicare and listened to inspiring talks from Robert Ian Bonnick, Warwick Anderson, Bee Orsini, Matt Kershaw and Brett Murray.

“I was so impressed with the enthusiasm, energy and commitment of the students and leaders who attended the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum this year. I can’t wait to see the impact they have both on their schools and in the wider community. It is such an honour to be able to impact the lives of these amazing young people, said Ronie Quinn, CEO of Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum.

“The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum would like to thank its dedicated volunteer committee members and amazing team of leaders, without whom the Forum could not impact the lives of so many students. These leaders are an exceptional example for the next generation, said Ronie Quinn.

The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum is in its 15th year, having started in 2002. It is a 21⁄2 day live-in program for Year 11 students, based on the values of integrity, service and courage. The program consists of inspirational speakers, team building activities, a community service project and time for small group discussions.

“The community service project is a great opportunity for students to exemplify the value of service during this part of the Forum, said Alex Hawke.

“We would like to thank our valued sponsors; our major sponsors, Nature’s Sunshine Australia and Castle Towers, and sponsors; PwC, Parker Hannifin and Redeemer Baptist School for their continuing commitment to the future of our student leaders.

“I would also like to thank Shelton’s Meats, Smiling Bakery, North West Growers, Allan Drew Funerals, The Hills Lodge, LSK Plastics and Swift Consulting for their community support to the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum.

“The continuing sponsorship from these businesses is integral to the success of the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum,” concluded Alex Hawke.
