Mayor of The Hills Shire, Councillor Yvonne Keane, announced the winners of the Orange Blossom Festival Schools Competition on Saturday.
With more than $2,500 worth of prizes up for grabs, the competition aims to engage children from pre-school through to Year 6 in Council’s Orange Blossom Festival, as well as allow children to express their creativity.
Mayor Keane congratulated all the winners, saying she was impressed with the high calibre of entries.
“The Orange Blossom Festival Schools Competition provides an annual opportunity for children to show off their artistic flair,” Mayor Keane said.
“I loved the eye-popping colours and the added sparkles, and the fact that every bit of the illustrations were coloured in or designed to have a particular theme.
“I would like to congratulate all of the winners and thank everyone who took part in this very innovative and unique event.”
Castle Hill Beehive Preschool and Childcare Centre was announced the winner of the overall preschool category and Baulkham Hills North Public School won the overall school division.
Other winners included Payton Hacadurian of Castle Hill Pre-School Kindergarten, Carrie Wang of Bright Start Kidz Kellyville, Andrew from Dural Public School and Phoebe Monro from Baulkham Hills North Public School.
Elizabeth Doughty from St Madeleine’s Primary School Kenthurst and Shana Singh from Baulkham Hills North Public School were ranked second in the competition.
All submissions were displayed at The Hills Shire Council before they were put on show at the Orange Blossom Festival on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18.
