The Lighting Up Windsor Festival is back in the calendar and will launch on Saturday, December 11th with the annual street fair in Windsor Mall and George Street from 5pm – 9pm.

This year’s festival will include a festive light display through to Christmas Eve.

The Light Projection Show will feature on the front and back of the Old Hawkesbury Hospital as well as on the front of the Deerubbin Centre at weekends starting on December 11 until Christmas Eve.The buildings will be lit up from 8pm – 10pm each night.

The sparkling light show is thanks to grants Hawkesbury City Council received from the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant Program ($60,500) and Destination Sydney Surrounds North ($22,000).

The popular Australia Day on the Hawkesbury will also return on January 26th, featuring live entertainment, carnival rides, fireworks, community displays, food trucks, and more.

Vaccination rates are estimated to surpass 90 per cent in NSW in early December, allowing for all public events to return without attendance limits. Both events will have a COVID-Safe plan in place and will adhere to any Public Health Orders in place at the time.

Hawkesbury City Mayor Patrick Conolly said both events will be the perfect way to celebrate the end of COVID-19 lockdowns.

“After a tough year, this is the best news we could possibly imagine. Soon, it will be time to celebrate,” he said.

“The Light up Windsor Festival and Australia Day on the Hawkesbury are always fantastic days out for the family, and this year it will be extra special.”
