Jump into the Year One Reading Club

The Mayor of The Hills Shire, Councillor Yvonne Keane invites young readers in Year One to enter the amazing world of literature with the exciting Year One Reading Club.

The Year One Reading Club is about to launch at your local library and is a great way to entice your Year One students to read more books.

Students who join the club will receive a logbook and a sticker each time they borrow a book from the library.

After receiving two stickers, club members will begin to collect rewards.

“I would encourage all parents to introduce their children in Year One to the reading club, as a great way to help them to improve their reading skills and introduce their imaginations to the magic of literature,” Mayor Keane said.

“I regularly bring my children to the library to borrow books, but when my daughter Saskia, who is in Year One, found out about the Year One Reading Club she was super excited and eager to tell her friends at school.

“The rewards system is a great way for parents and teachers to encourage children to explore their local library.”

Year One Reading Club starts on March 1 and will continue through to October 31.

To join, head to one of The Hills Shire Libraries or visit www.thehills.nsw.gov.au and search for “library” in the search tab.
