It’s Back… The Hawkesbury Show

All the fun of the fair and so much more will be on display when the Hawkesbury Show returns this month.

Hawkesbury ShowThe three-day show at the Hawkesbury Showground at Clarendon promises to be the biggest, brightest and most exciting event yet with a full program of agricultural competitions and displays, entertainment and attractions that the whole family will enjoy.

Now in its 134th year, the largest regional Show in NSW runs from April 23 to April 25 with a blend of exciting attractions and traditional family favourites.

After a period of drought, bushfires, COVID 19 and more recently floods it’s just what is needed as it brings together the best components of a traditional agricultural show with a modern-day carnival twist.

Hawkesbury District Agricultural Association (HDAA) President Ross Matheson said: “This is a really special event that brings the whole community together to celebrate and experience all that Hawkesbury has to offer.

“Partner that with the excitement of a traditional modern-day carnival and here you have a truly fun day out for the whole family.”

They say the Hawkesbury Show is “where country meets city” as it provides the opportunity to see the best cattle, horses, alpacas, donkeys, sheep, poultry, dogs, cats, goats and aviary birds that the state has to offer.

There will also be stunning displays of art, craft, photography, needlework, Lego, preserves, horticulture, fruit, vegetables, honey, lapidary and so much more.

Over 200 local businesses will showcase their products and services, there will be exhilarating and thrilling carnival rides, showbags, crazy carnival foods and games of skill and chance down sideshow alley continuously throughout the days.

Every evening the Show will culminate with a stunning fireworks display.

The Show caters for all age groups and interests, for young children the Animal Nursery is always a popular destination and for adults the Taste of the Hawkesbury Marquee will return and provide the opportunity to sample the best beverages and produce from the local Hawkesbury region.

Free family entertainment is in abundance including the Grand Parade on Saturday, Woodchop Spectacular, Showtime FMX Motor Cross Team, Mower Mania, Hawkesbury Working Kelpies, Racing Pigs and show jumping.

The Performance Stage will be filled with local performers and dancers.

New to the Show this year is the Dennis Massoud Sand Sculpture demonstrations and workshops.

The Sandman, as he is known, is a world champion sand sculptor. His expertise, experience and popularity has taken him 9 times around the world during the last seven years.

His full-time profession started as a hobby when he was only 7 years old. He was commissioned to sand sculpt in the only 8-star hotel in the world, the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi and he won the world championship in Denmark in 2003.
