Injured horse rider found by firefighters, flown to hospital – Lower Portland
On Thursday, The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to attend to a woman in her 60s after she was found injured on a fire trail in Lower Portland by NSW Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS) volunteers while conducting official business.
The woman was initially assisted by the Rural Fire Service firefighters, who transported the patient in their truck and provided first aid.
Landing in a nearby paddock, CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedics treated the woman at the scene for back and pelvic injuries. The patient was then airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
The CareFlight team would like to praise the NSW Rural Fire Service’s South Maroota Brigade for their quick actions in providing aid to the woman in trouble.
