INALA HONOUR GAIL’S AWARD

Gail Marshall has a huge fan club at Inala for all her work with the Rudolf Steiner inspired organisation at Cherrybrook.

Inala has been a prominent fixture within The Hill’s community for more than six decades supporting individuals living with disability.

Mrs Marshall, one of Inala’s Life Members, can now add OAM to her name after being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for her 25 years plus service to the community through charitable initiatives.

Inala provides a variety of individualised and flexible Day, Community and Accommodation supports throughout Sydney’s North West and Hills Districts and the Eastern Suburbs.

Originally established in 1958 by Dr Joachim Pohl, his wife Kyra Pohl and a group of families seeking more support for their children with special needs, Inala now supports over 200 adults living with disability.

Mrs Marshall is a founding member of the Inala Functions Committee since 1993, raising funds for major projects including the development of a state-of-the-art community arts centre in Cherrybrook, Dulkara Centre for Life Skills and the Arts, as well as modifications to accommodation facilities.

Mrs Marshall said: “It has always been such a privilege working with all the wonderful staff and carers at Inala. I feel very proud and humble to receive such an auspicious award. I am extremely proud of what our committee has achieved over the past 27 years raising monies to help people with disability.”
