Help recognise outstanding members of our sporting community

The Hawkesbury is home to so many amazing sports men and women who not only achieve great things on the field but also make sure our local clubs run efficiently. If you know someone who has made an outstanding sporting accomplishment or dedicates countless hours to a club in a support role or as a coach or manager, you should nominate them for the Hawkesbury Sports Awards proudly sponsored by Hawkesbury City Council, Windsor RSL and Vintage FM.

Nominations close on 28 March 2016 and community members are encourage to jump online and complete a nomination form.

Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford explained the new awards. “The new Sports Awards acknowledge the sporting accomplishments of community members as well as the contributions of individuals to sporting clubs through support roles.”

“Recognising members of our sporting community is extremely important. Whether these contributions and accomplishments are at a local, district, state or national level, in the canteen, as a coach or manager – nothing is too big or too small for these awards,” he added.

Nominations are invited for one or more of the nine categories:

• Sports Person of the Year
• Junior Sports Person of the Year
• Senior Sports Person of the Year
• All Abilities Sports Person of the Year
• Team of the Year
• Official of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Sporting Excellence Medallion (previously known as Hawkesbury District Sports Medal)
• Service to Sport Medallion (previously known as the Hawkesbury District Sports Certificate)

Nominations forms are available on Council’s website, www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or at Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor; Windsor Central Library, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor or Richmond Branch Library, 29 West Market Street, Richmond.

Nominations for 2016 Hawkesbury Sports Awards close 5pm Monday, 28 March 2016.

Windsor RSL will host a Presentation Dinner on Friday, 13 May 2016. Details on purchasing tickets for the evening will be available closer to the date.
