A DAY TRIP DELIGHT – HAWKESBURY VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE

Have you stepped inside the newly renovated Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre yet?

The centre offers a wealth of information on what to see and do in the area but it is also a great spot to shop for the best of locally made produce.

The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre is opposite Richmond RAAF base at Hawkesbury Valley Way and has benefited from a $89,000 upgrade by Hawkesbury City Council.

The renovation increased the retail space in the centre which is devoted to promoting the Hawkesbury region and the products available in the area including locally produced jams, preserves and sauces and local ciders.

It also sells Snake Bite Kits popular with not just walkers, but also, travellers, property owners and golfers.

The Centre carries a range of RAAF merchandise for enthusiasts who come to watch the planes take off from the Richmond Airbase opposite and has a good supply of the Cartoscope maps which are free to visitors.

Tourism Information Co-ordinator Mary Harris said there was so much for people looking for interesting day trips to do and see in the Hawkesbury Region.

“It’ an easy spot to get to and has a lot to offer. We have walking tracks and 120km of river.” There are farm gate experiences, great dining, art galleries, tours and more.

The Centre carries information about 70 destinations other than the Hawkesbury, free maps and helpful staff.

Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre is open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm under COVID-safe guidelines.
