Australia Day is just around the corner and preparation is already underway.

Hawkesbury’s Australia Day Ambassador Announced

Each year, Hawkesbury City Council participates in the Australia Day Council of New South Wales Ambassador program. The Australia Day Ambassador Program sends high achieving Australians to over 300 community celebrations nationwide every Australia Day. Ambassadors aim to provide added inspiration and pride to Australia Day events and activities.

Hawkesbury’s Australia Day Ambassador is Bruce Elder, Australian journalist, music critic, writer and commentator.

Welcoming New Citizens to the Hawkesbury

The Hawkesbury will welcome new citizens from a variety of countries to Australia at a very special Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony to be held at the Windsor Function Centre on Tuesday, 26 January 2016 at 9am. Hawkesbury’s 2016 Australia Day Ambassador, Bruce Elder and the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford will attend the ceremony which is proudly organised by Hawkesbury City Council.

Join the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford and Australia Day Ambassador, Bruce Elder at the Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards Ceremony, proudly sponsored by Richmond Club. The Ceremony will this year be held at the Windsor Function Centre commencing at 12noon.

Richmond Club has been a long term supporter of the Awards, sponsoring the Awards since 1999. In a much anticipated event the Hawkesbury Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year will be announced, recognising contributions to the Hawkesbury by dedicated individuals.

Be a part of the Australia Day Events Calendar

Community organisations planning events for Australia Day are invited to be a part of an Australia Day Calendar of Events for the Hawkesbury.

The Calendar of Events will be promoted through Council’s media channels and will appear on Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford said Australia Day is more than just a public holiday; it is a celebration that inspires the nation and brings Australians together at events run by local community organisations.

“I encourage all residents to be part of the celebrations and attend one or more of our civic and community events,” the Mayor added.

To submit details about your event for the Australia Day Calendar visit www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au and complete the registration form.  Forms must be submitted by 5pm Friday, 15 January 2016 to be included.
