Queen Iduna in Disney’s Frozen the musical, Tanika Anderson is a Hills girl at heart. The former Hi-5 member, was a student at Model Farms High School Baulkham Hills until Year 10 when she left to study at the Newtown Performing Arts High School.

As well as playing the role of Queen Iduna (mother of Elsa and Anna), Tanika performs in the ensemble.

Tanika is deeply proud of the diversity in her family, her mother is Chinese Singaporean and her father is Australian with Scottish roots.

Her favourite Disney movie is Pocahontas because of her culture and ethnicity which is  why Tanika sang Colours of the Wind when she auditioned for Frozen, saying she felt it only right to tell that story as her own truth.

She feels honoured to be a part of Frozen the Musical because of the diversity that it represents and wishes she could have had the opportunity to watch performers that looked like her when she was a little girl.

Tanika has always been a dancer and started her own dance school, 360 Dance at the age of 17, and based her own dance studio at her former school in Baulkham Hills.,

A graduate of Brent St Studios, Tanika went on to perform for a year as a singer and dancer at Universal Studios in Singapore.

At the age of 20 Tanika she joined the popular children’s entertainment group Hi-5 at its fifth member. She has been seen in the TV series – Hi-5 House, in over 70 countries around the world.

The one trip that totally captured her heart was the first four-day journey to Myanmar in 2015. It changed her life. She founded the ethical fashion label You & Mei, produced in Myanmar, to provide employable skills and pathways to independence for vulnerable young women. Frozen has a total cast of 38, an incredible 440 costumes, and 65 tonnes of scenery. It is playing at the Capitol Theatre until May 23.
