Congratulations to our winning Autumn reader

Marilyn Tobin is the Winner of the Autumn Readers Competition, she has won a $100 Voucher, donated by Momento Hospitality. Marilyn sent in a photo of herself and her guide dog puppy Cosmo with the Hills to Hawkesbury Community News.

Cosmo belongs to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and is living with Mrs Tobin until he is at least 14 mon assessed for training as as a Guide Dog.

Cosmo and his brother Calvin were born at the Guide Dogs’ training centre at Glossodia just before Christmas last year.

The puppies featured on the first edition of the Hills to Hawkesbury Community News this year. Mrs Tobin has been a volunteer puppy raiser with Guide Dogs NSW and ACT for several years and has looked after four puppies on a long term basis.

Puppy raisers teach puppies basic obedience and social skills and introduce them to the sights, sounds and smells they are likely to encounter as a working guide dog.

It costs $50,000 and takes two years to breed, raise and train one Guide Dog. To find out more about the program and to enquire about puppy raising visit guidedogs.com.au
