ALISON AND DENISE ARE IN THE PINK EVENT

Alison Harper lost her mum to cancer and since then has dedicated her life to making a difference.

A member of the Hills Relay For Life organising Committee for 10 years she also organised several Pink events to raise money for the Cancer Council.

Her sixth Pink event, organised recently with friend Denise Daynes, raised over $1470 for research for to women’s cancers.

She said she was thrilled with the result of the ABBA-themed event.

”I dedicated the event to my mum. I lost my mum in 2008. We need to find a cure for cancer,” she said.

Denise said the impacts of COVID 19 had affected fundraising meaning there was less funding available for vital research, prevention programs and information and support services.

“In these tough times, every little bit helps. Alison and I are just glad to be able to make a small difference.”

The funds raised by the Cancer Council’s pink events will fund research into breast, ovarian, cervical and uterine cancer.

Every day 70 women are diagnosed with breast or genealogical cancer. Money raised funds research into these cancers prevention programs and support services to help those affected by women’s cancers
