A significant number of road works in the Hawkesbury have been completed to improve and maintain the condition of the Hawkesbury’s existing road assets. Various roads in the Hawkesbury are being reconstructed and improved using grants from NSW Roads and Maritime Services coupled with Council matched funding in many cases. Roadworks are also being funded by the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program to deliver a road upgrade program over five years 2014 to 2019.
Completed projects benefitting the community include a section of Grose Wold Road, Grose Wold – reconstruction and sealing, Branders Lane, North Richmond – road rehabilitation, Mileham Street, South Windsor – road rehabilitation, Grose Vale Road, Kurrajong – shoulder improvement works, Freemans Reach Road, Freemans Reach – safety improvements including rehabilitation, King Road/Sackville Road, Wilberforce – reconstruction and sealing, and Kurmond Road, North Richmond/Freemans Reach – rehabilitation and traffic improvement works at two locations.
Works are being undertaken using a combination of Council staff and contractors in order to a deliver a larger program of cost effective works, the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford explained.
“We are getting on with the job with upgrading roads because we know how important the roads are to our community,” Mayor Ford said.
