$85m Round Corner Project

By BEV JORDAN
In the first stage of a $85 million Gateway project at Round Corner, Dural has been granted ‘deferred development consent’ by The Hills Shire Council.

Image Property Developments, the developers of Skyline Dural, required approval from Transport for NSW for a key part of the application which includes major improvements to Old Northern Road which the company is funding.

Set on 2ha of land at 488 Old Northern Road stage one includes widening Old Northern Road to two lanes each way along the entire site frontage, dedicated turn in lanes, a new signalised intersection at Old Northern Road and Franlee Road plus a bus layover bay.

As well as the road upgrades, the first stage includes two-storey retail and commercial building with views to the Blue Mountains and a public plaza. The building will include a supermarket and retail outlets including specialty stores and restaurants.

There are two levels of dedicated parking spaces, and additional parking to follow. The start date on Stage 1 is likely to be next year but is dependent on Development approvals for Stage 2 and Stage 3 which are set to be lodged with the council in the coming months.

The next two stages include plans for apartments and townhouses, the quantity is being finalised following the recent Stage 1 approval and will be confirmed when the DA is lodged.

Chris Paunescu, of CHRISP Consulting, project managing the design on behalf of Image

Property Developments said: “We are delighted that following extensive consultation with Council and Transport for NSW, we are able to obtain approval for this landmark development that will enhance public infrastructure, safety and amenities for Dural residents and visitors.

“The investment in improving transport infrastructure at the southern entry to Dural village, particularly with the intersection, will improve traffic flow significantly.

“The tri-level designer townhomes (with optional elevators), spacious apartments with rooftop terraces and exclusive restaurants extending the public plaza are part of Stages 2 and 3.”

Mr Paunescu said Image Property Developments is based in the Hills.

“Image Property Developments are locals to the area and are committed to creating a vibrant lifestyle hub for Round Corner Dural, “ he said.

He told the Hills to Hawkesbury Community News: “The team is very familiar with the area and understands where it can best serve the community”.
