Wayfaring in Wollemi – stories of people in wilderness
Blue Mountains historian Andy Macqueen will visit Hawkesbury Central Library on Thursday, 1 March to discuss the human side of the Wollemi, the largest declared wilderness in NSW. His talk will be based on his latest book, ‘Wayfaring in Wollemi: stories of people in wilderness’.
Andy will tell the stories of some of the interesting people who spent time in this area, which is located north- west of Windsor. He will discuss the tales of explorers, surveyors, wanderers, cattlemen, would-be developers, adventurers and conservationists.
Andy Macqueen is an engineer, conservationist, bushwalker and an accomplished writer of history. This is his fifth book; some of his previous titles include ‘Back from the ‘Brink: Blue Gum Forest and the Grose Wilderness’ and ‘Somewhat perilous: the journeys of Singleton, Parr, Howe, Myles and Blaxland in the Northern Blue Mountains’.
