STRONGER SENTENCES FOR STARTING A BUSHFIRE

Locally we have seen the devastation that bushfires can bring. Starting a bushfire deliberately is a senseless and selfish act that can have catastrophic consequences such as wiping out land and homes, and causing injury or death to residents and livestock.

NSW Government is introducing tougher maximum sentences for the crime, increasing the maximum jail sentence from 14 years to 21 years.

These stronger laws align with community expectations to punish those selfish individuals who choose to do this, and act as a deterrent for those contemplating it.

CASTLE HILL RECEIVES $9.14 MILLION FOR SCHOOLS

Schools in Castle Hill have been allocated more than $7.4 million in Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding. Our schools can use the additional funds to continue to hire more teachers or administrative staff, for example, or to buy new iPads, instruments or sports equipment – whatever our school communities decide will best meet their unique learning and teaching needs. Plus our electorate has been allocated over $1.74 million in funding for school maintenance.

Where Labor closed schools – we provide record funding. This demonstrates once again that only the NSW Liberals & Nationals can deliver real results for the people of Castle Hill.

TIS THE SEASON

With the festive season just around the corner, I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 2019 is going to be a huge year for local residents as you will be able to catch a train every 4 minutes on the Sydney Metro Northwest, and when the NorthConnex tunnel opens you will never be stuck in holiday traffic from up the coast again!
