CHRG: Strengthening the Heartbeat of Local Sports
Castle Hill RSL Group, otherwise known as CHRG, continues to be a cornerstone for sports and community in the Hills District, supporting nearly 4,000 active members across 20 diverse sub clubs. From golf to swimming, and from cycling to darts, each club is a hub for people passionate about their local sports, finding camaraderie, purpose, and growth.
Thanks to CHRG’s support, these clubs thrive as vibrant spaces where individuals of all ages come together to participate, compete, and build lasting connections.
One of the most powerful ways CHRG brings these clubs together is through their regular Sub Club Showcase. At these gatherings, club representatives can connect, share their successes, discuss challenges, and brainstorm new ideas.
October’s Sub Club Showcase focused on storytelling, with clubs sharing their journeys, achievements, and insights. This open dialogue helped clubs learn from each other, inspiring new strategies and deepening bonds that go beyond their individual sports and community groups.
CHRG Group Chief Operating Officer, Andy Abey said: “These meetings are about more than sports – they are an opportunity to celebrate what each club brings to our community and to learn from one another, so we all grow stronger together.
“The Sub Club Showcase fosters an environment of mutual support and shared purpose,” she added.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of these clubs, dedicating their time and energy to ensure activities run smoothly and that newcomers feel welcomed. CHRG’s support goes beyond funding; it extends to recognising these essential contributions and creating an environment where volunteers feel valued and supported.
This appreciation of volunteer efforts was a key theme in the recent Showcase, as clubs discussed how they could better support and retain their most dedicated members.
At the same time, many clubs are focused on growing their membership, eager to expand their reach and welcome more residents into the sporting community. By sharing strategies that have worked for others, clubs gain new ideas to enhance recruitment efforts, ensuring that everyone in the community has access to an inclusive and engaging sports environment.
Through these regular Showcase events, CHRG does more than support individual clubs; it strengthens a network of sports enthusiasts, volunteers, and community leaders. Together, they create a vibrant and connected community that will continue to inspire, support, and grow for years to come.
