Meet The Team: HEBA – Our New Vestibular Audiologist

We are thrilled to introduce Heba, our new clinician at Ear Studio! With her extensive experience and passion for audiology, Heba brings a wealth of knowledge and a warm, compassionate approach to her work.

Professional Background
Heba’s journey in audiology began in Sydney, where she spent 15 years honing her skills in diagnostic testing, balance assessments, and hearing tests for all ages, including babies from six months old. She also conducted tinnitus assessments and comprehensive hearing aid workups.

Prior to Sydney, Heba worked in Adelaide, focusing on paediatrics and complex cases, which provided a strong foundation for her career. Most recently, she worked with a hearing aid manufacturer, gaining deep insights into the technology. This experience allowed her to understand directional processing, optimise products, predict market trends, and offer solid recommendations to clients.

Discovering a Love for Audiology
Heba always knew she wanted to work in the health industry. While pursuing a double degree at university, she interned at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. There, she met an audiologist by chance. Heba would deliver public health talks and the audiologist would conduct hearing assessments after the talks, this sparked Heba’s interest in the field.

Around the same time, Heba’s younger cousin was diagnosed with a hearing loss. This personal connection opened a new world for her. She realised that audiology allowed her to improve people’s lives in a medical, yet nonlife- threatening way, the emphasis on building relationships and enhancing clients’ overall well-being deeply resonated with her.

Passion for Audiology
Heba is driven by the desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives and help them communicate better. Whether it’s assisting a child’s hearing to facilitate speech development and learning or enabling a grandmother to bond with her grandchild, she finds joy in improving relationships and quality of life, which stems from good hearing.

A simple procedure like an ear wax removal or a sophisticated cochlear implant switch on can make a significant difference to one’s life. Seeing clients leave with a smile, knowing how much better they can hear, is incredibly rewarding for Heba. These moments of transformation and the ability to enhance clients’ lives are what she loves most about her work.

A Personal Story
One of Heba’s favourite stories is close to her heart. A few years ago, her family noticed her mother was becoming forgetful and confused. Concerned, Heba checked her hearing and discovered significant undiagnosed hearing loss.

After fitting her with hearing aids, her mother became more social, engaged and less frustrated, almost like a different person. This profound experience restored her relationships, improved her social confidence and highlighted the immense impact of hearing aids. This story underscores Heba’s deep, personal connection to her work.
