A Warm Welcome at Probus Club of Glenhaven

When I was contemplating retirement, I wondered what on earth I would do with myself, with all that time on my hands. I was never a hobby type person; I wasn’t a golfer or a lawn bowler. Chatting with a friend one day, she suggested that I join her Probus Club, The Probus Club of Glenhaven.

I mulled it over and when retirement rolled around, as it does eventually for all of us, I bit the bullet and joined…best decision I ever made. I was immediately welcomed by the members, but even so, it took a little while for me to find my feet, to feel comfortable with all these new faces.

The breakthrough came when I signed up for a five-day trip to Broken Hill with the group. I set off with 23 strangers and without doubt, came back with 23 friends. From that point I never looked back…

AdobeStock 626563840 A Warm Welcome at Probus Club of GlenhavenI’ve participated in so many activities over the last few years from Caravan and Camping (in cabins!), lunches and dinners, overseas travel, walking tours, Opal days, Bridge, Canasta and Five Hundred, movies and to theatre… and these are just the tip of the iceberg!

I now participate at an executive level and we have recently opened up opportunities for others to come and join in the fun. Glenhaven Probus is a mixed club for retired couples and/or singles.

We meet at Castle Hill Bowling Club on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and you would be very welcome to come and join us as a visitor, to dabble your toes in, before taking the plunge to full membership. Check out our details on: https://www.probussouthpacific.org/microsites/glenhaven
