Clean Up Australia Day 2019

CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO OUR PUBLIC SPACES

Clean Up Australia Day 2019 registrations are now open, so it’s time to check out rubbish hotspots in your neighbourhood and challenge your friends and family to get together and help keep the Hawkesbury beautiful.

Businesses are encouraged to focus their action on Business Clean Up Day – Tuesday, 26 February with Schools running their own Clean Up on Friday, 1 March, with youth and community groups carrying out their clean ups on Sunday, 3 March.

Hot spots for the local Clean Up Australia Day event will include local reserves, sporting grounds, creeks and river banks, and parks in the Hawkesbury.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert said community groups, residents, schools and businesses can all make a positive difference by supporting Clean Up Australia Day.

“Our community and visitors all enjoy using our parks, reserves and other public spaces. Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to get them that extra buff and polish,” Councillor Calvert said.

“Participating in one or more of these events is the perfect opportunity to join with family, friends, neighbours and colleagues to remove any rubbish accumulating in your local park, bushland, beaches and waterways before it harms our wildlife.

“Clean Up Australia Day volunteers always do a fantastic job and I’m sure this year will be the same or even better!”

Online registrations are free, simply register with Clean Up Australia Day at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au and notify Council of your plans by emailing [email protected] or by calling 4560 4566.
