Blue – Green Algae Amber Alert – Yarramundi

Water NSW have advised that the Nepean River at Yarramundi has been issued an Amber Alert for blue – green algae.

An Amber Alert indicates that blue-green algae may multiply, and the water may have a green tinge and musty or organic taste and odour. The water should be considered as unsuitable for potable use and may also be unsuitable for stock watering.

People are advised to exercise caution when using the river for water sports in this area, as blue-green algal concentrations can quickly rise to red alert levels under warm, calm weather conditions.
