CWA Celebrates
Members of CWA Castle Hill Branch celebrated their 78th Birthday this month with a delicious cake.
The gathering on Tuesday 8th October was also the date of the club’s AGM and the following members have been voted as office bearers. President- Michele Russell Secretary- Maureen De Brincat Treasurer – Kerrie Tomlins Vice President – Valma Patman and Trish Allen International Officer – Faye Brown Cultural Officer – Kerry Hill Handicraft Officer – Margaret Edwards Land Cookery Officer – Denise Wesker Agricultural and Environmental Officer – Barbara Chapman Publicity Officer – Pratibha Bhanushali Councillors To Group – Trish Allen and Kerrie Tomlins.
The Castle Hill branch was formed in 1946 just 24 years after the CWA of NSW was formed. The CWA is the largest women’s organisation in Australia and aims to improve conditions for women and children through lobbying for change, creating a support network and helping the local community.
Castle Hill is a member of the NEPEAN group. The vision of CWA is to support women and children especially in rural and remote regions of NSW. The Castle Hill Branch fundraises for State-wide projects as well as local projects including St Gabriel’s School at Castle Hill as well as The Sanctuary_The HillsWomen’s Refuge, local hospitals and nursing homes.
The Castle Hill branch meets on the second Tuesday of the month at “The Cottage” 2 Annangrove Road, Kenthurst, from 10am to 12pm. Social Craft days are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month. A Book Club is held on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 10am to 12pm.
