What’s with the Chocolate Egg?

The Centre Murray 03 What’s With The Chocolate Egg?MURRAY LAMBERT – PASTOR AT THE CENTRE DURAL
If you visit the Cadbury Museum (sounds dangerous) they have examples of chocolate hens, bells, fish and EVEN PIGS which were all the rage at Easter in the early 20th century.

Eventually, the egg became the dominant shape due mostly to convenience in production (an egg is definitely easier to make out of chocolate than a pig).

The modern Easter egg has taken on a life of its own.

These days there’s Crunchie eggs, Caramello eggs, Turkish Delight eggs, Cream eggs, Humpty Dumpty eggs with the smarties in them – I can’t keep up!
But I still hold a special place in my heart for the humble, empty Easter egg. Why?
Because just like the empty egg, Jesus’ tomb was found empty that first Easter Sunday. It’s not only why we celebrate Easter, it’s why we hold onto faith as Christians – it’s why we meet on Sundays!Without an empty tomb, our faith is also empty – that’s what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:14   “And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.”
