Living Stories – Western Sydney Writing Competition Winners
Congratulations to the winners of the Living Stories Western Sydney Writing Prize 2022.
Hawkesbury Library Service recently partnered with WestWords as part of the WestLit Libraries to bring this competition to Western Sydney.
The Living Stories Western Sydney Writing Prize is a creative writing competition for residents of Western Sydney and Wingecarribee Shire, which is home to over 2.5 million Australians originating from 180 countries, speaking almost 100 different languages, and residing in 14 local government areas.
The Hawkesbury was well represented, with poetry entries by Alyssa Dunn (16-18) and Ellenore Gunda (18+), as well as short story entries by Liam Galloway (10-12), Emily Shanoun (16-18), and Lana Graham (18+), going through to the final round of judging.
The overall winners were announced on 18 July at Parramatta Square:
• 10-12 Liam Galloway – Hawkesbury City
• 13-15 Kathryn Rendulic – The City of Parramatta
• 16-18 Preethu Raju – The City of Parramatta
• 18+ Adam Byatt – Blacktown City
We would also like to congratulate the highly commended entries from the Hawkesbury, Joy Robson and Rebecca Palmer, who, along with all winners and highly commended entrants from the two rounds of judging, have now been published in an anthology titled Living Stories: Things Unsaid. The anthology is available for download or purchase directly from WestWords.
