Threatened Bilbies to Receive Protection Plan

You don’t need to know a lot about bilbies to know they’re cute.

But did you know they’re also under threat?

That’s why the Government, with the support of the relevant states and territories, has announced a plan to protect them.

The plan will help us:
* Release bilbies into massive, fenced off predator free zones – so they can safely repopulate away from cats and foxes
* Develop insurance populations of bilbies – so we can gradually introduce them into the wild
* Support First Nations fire management – so we can reduce the impact of enormous bushfires on their habitats
* And support conservation scientists who are surveying bilby populations – so we can better understand their situation
