‘Reconnect’ at the Hills Shire Seniors Festival
The Hills Shire’s Seniors Festival returns in 2022,
with a focus on “reconnecting”.
The Seniors Festival, which is taking place between 25th March – 3rd April, will feature an array of FREE activities for people aged over 60, in a COVID safe setting.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said this year’s Festival theme is ‘Reconnect’. “Our senior’s community play a significant role in The Hills Shire and it’s great that we can reconnect with them, especially after the many months spent isolating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s also a wonderful way to recognise, thank and celebrate everything they do for our region”, Mayor Gangemi said.
“I’m proud that Council is supporting this year’s Seniors Festival, and I hope those who attend can take home some valuable information, feel empowered and more importantly have fun and make some new friends in the process,” Mayor Gangemi added.
Events happening as part of this year’s Seniors Festival, include:
NAVIGATING COUNCIL SERVICES ONLINE WORKSHOP at the Harvey Lowe Pavilion, in Castle Hill Showground, on Wednesday, March 30 at 11am: This workshop will teach attendees how to navigate key Council functions and access digital services, including addressing frequent queries, how to access e-pathway, receiving rates online and digital library services. Morning tea will also be served as part of the workshop.
‘THE DUKE’ FILM SCREENING AT EVENT CINEMAS, Castle Towers on Thursday March 31 at 10am The Duke is based on the true story of 60-yearold taxi driver, Kempton Bunton, who steals Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. He then sends ransom notes, saying that he will return the painting when the government invests more in care for the elderly.
What follows is a heartwarming campaign to help support the British senior community. Helen Mirren, Jim Broadbent and Matthew Goode make a star-studded appearance in the uplifting comedy-drama.
