Sydney Hills Gymnastics Soar High
Sydney Hills Gymnastics were big winners at the recent Gymnastics NSW’s awards night. They were crowned the Men’s Gymnastics Club of the Year, Men’s Gymnastics International Coaching Team of the Year and Men’s Gymnastics Junior Development Coaching Team of the Year, while four of their athletes also won awards..
Sydney Hills Gymnastics, which runs classes in Castle Hill and Bella Vista, nabbed nine medals at the Australian Gymnastics Championships and won 13 medals at international events.
Artistic gymnast Daniel Chalabov, 16, was named Men’s Gymnastics Junior International Athlete of the Year. He represented Australia at the Austrian Future Cup, winning gold medals in the all-around, pommel and parallel bars events. He won gold on pommel and silver on rings at the Olympic Hopes Cup.
Noah Saad, 9, won the Men’s Gymnastics International Development Athlete of the Year Award. He is the reigning state champion in his age group, having won gold on floor, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and high bar.
Catherine Boffa and Hana Heo were named Acrobatic Gymnastics Senior Levels Group of the Year. The Level 9 pair built on their scores throughout state and national events, finishing the 2023 season as Australian champions.
Vassili Trofimov, Director and Head Coach of Sydney Hills Gymnastics, said 2023 was their club’s most successful year.
