Smart Car Inspecting Condition Of The Hills Road

Hills Mayor, Dr Peter Gangemi announced today that a smart car is currently inspecting the condition of the road network in The Hills, complementing Council’s ongoing efforts to maintain the Hills roads after record breaking wet weather.

Residents may see this vehicle on the roads, fitted with cameras, a profilometer for road texture and GPS tracking devices. The car will also be fitted with hazard lights and warning devices and the vehicle will not take any recordings of properties or people.

The information gained from inspecting the entire 1023km road network will be used to best optimise Hills Council‘s upcoming road rehabilitation program.The network inspection comes on top of a record budget on road rehabilitation this financial year and the largest number of potholes filled in a calendar year in 2022.
