Millions of dollars of pothole funding secured for The Hills
“I welcome the success of our campaign to secure greater pothole repair funding for Metropolitan NSW Councils, alongside Sarah McMahon – Mayor of Hawkesbury, the Mayor of Hornsby Philip Ruddock, the Mayor of Campbelltown George Greiss, Mayor Tricia Hitchen of Penrith and Mayor Matt Gould of Wollondilly.”Hills Mayor Dr Peter Gangemi said
He thanks Premier Dom Perrottet for hearing our advocacy and for his announcement that an extra $500m will be allocated to councils to help maintain their roads, $220m for metropolitan councils and $280m for rural councils.
Each Council in NSW will receive funding proportional to the length of the road network. The Hills will therefore receive significant support that is needed by our community to help repair our roads.
The funding is required after unprecedented statewide damage to roads from three La Niña events in a row and, more locally, a record budget on road rehabilitation this financial year and the largest number of potholes filled in a calendar year in 2022.
He would like to once again thank Premier Perrottet, and local member Robyn Preston MP for their strong support of our region and we are now looking forward to getting on with the job of fixing roads to the standard that our community expect.
