Expect Sackville Ferry Crossing Asphalting Work on 29 & 30 May

Sackville Ferry Crossing Construction

Transport for NSW will carry out essential improvement (asphalting) work at Sackville Ferry crossing on Monday, May 29 from 8 PM to 5 AM on Tuesday, May 30.

The work includes:

  • Milling of existing asphalt
  • Application of spray binder/tack coat
  • Placement of new asphalt
  • Compaction with a roller.

This work is important to ensure the safety of Sackville Ferry users and staff.

Emergency services needing to cross the river during the service closure will be able to go through with a short delay of around 20 minutes to allow for the resetting of the crossing to provide ferry service.

How will the work affect you?

Motorists seeking to cross the river from 8 PM to 10 PM Monday 29 May will need to take a detour to the north adding around 45 minutes to journey times to access the Lower Portland Ferry.

Motorists on the western side of the river will need to detour via Western Portland Road and motorists on the eastern side of the river will need to detour via River Road.

When the Lower Portland Ferry is closed between 10 PM Monday 29 May and 5 AM Tuesday 30 May, motorists will need to take a detour via Windsor adding around 55 minutes to journey times.

Please plan your trip and allow extra travel time.
