Nominate now for the 2018 Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards and be in the draw to win $100 voucher

Nominations are now open for the 2018 Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards. Do you know a worthy individual you can nominate? These awards are a great way for the Hawkesbury to recognise the many outstanding people in our community.

“The Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards program has been developed to recognise the outstanding citizens of the Hawkesbury and show our appreciation for their contribution to our community,” said Hawkesbury Mayor, Councillor Mary Lyons- Buckett.

“Year after year, an abundance of worthy individuals and organisations are nominated for these awards and I’m looking forward to seeing the list of nominees for the 2018 Awards,” she added.

Nominations are now open and Council is calling for nominations for individuals and community groups who address the selection criteria of one or more of the nine categories to be submitted. Nominators will automatically go in the running to win one of five $100 Coles/Myer gift cards.

Community members can nominate in one or more of following the nine categories:

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Local Hero Award
• Volunteer of the Year
• Community Organisation of the Year
• Community Arts Award • Cultural Heritage Award
• Environmental Award
• Commemorative Plaque

The winners will be announced on Australia Day, 2018, at a special awards presentation.

More information about the award categories and nomination forms are available online at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au. Nominations close on Friday, 10 November 2017 at 5pm.

Council’s Civic and Citizenship Committee is responsible for assessing all nominations received. Judging will take place in early December. Awards will be presented at a ceremony on Australia Day 2018.
