New Year Baby

The first baby of 2022 born at Norwest Private Hospital arrived in the early hours on the 1st January.

Proud parents Anna and Daniel Sergi celebrated the New Year by welcoming Domenic, their 2.7 kg bundle of joy to the world at 5.32am. Domenic is the couple’s second child, and is little brother to big sister, Domenica.

“Even with the challenges that COVID-19 presented in 2021, almost 1500 babies were born at Norwest Private last year,” said Rebecca Garrard, Postnatal Midwifery Unit Manager at Norwest Private Hospital. “Our midwives and nurses are committed to providing the best possible experience for mothers and are always there to support them and their families.”

“Despite the limitations of COVID restrictions, we continue to provide new mums with the opportunity to meet other new mums and socialise in a COVID safe environment, said Ms Garrard. “Our Feeding Room is a relaxing space for baby to feed and there are also snacks for mum.

Education sessions are held throughout the week and include physiotherapy classes with a specialist women’s physiotherapist, breast feeding classes and newborn behaviour classes, giving women the opportunity to not only learn but also meet women in the same situation as themselves.”

“Our Early Childhood Clinic remains open and is a unique service that is available free of charge for the first 12 weeks to all babies born at Norwest. It’s a wonderful opportunity for mums to seek help and advice from a knowledgeable midwife and Early Childhood Nurse after they go home’, said Ms Garrard.
