Nepean Physie Club Family Duo Sally, Lucy Dazzle
Lyn Lamont Sensational in Over 70s
Sally Lamplough of Nepean Physie Club is a tough act to follow when it comes to the dance sport known Physie. She is now the Overall Ladies Champion in Australia, making her the best ladies’ competitor in the country., having won back-to-back national titles.
Sally, known for her vibrant energy and passion, delivered a flawless performance in the ladies final, after winning Overall Ladies Grand Champion in 2023. Sally’s ability to connect with the audience through her performance is a testament to her hard work and love for physie, said Kim Annesley, the head teacher at the Nepean Physie Club.
Lyn Lamont was sensational in the over 70s section and proves that women of any age can get out there and dance, said a proud Kim.
“Sally’s achievement at the national finals is not only a personal triumph but also an inspiration to her class mates and students that she teaches,” Kim said.
Adding to the Blaxland family’s joy was Lucy Lamplough who took out the 11 Years title, making them the only mother and daughter champions at the 2024 national championships in December.
“Competing against many beautiful physie girls, Lucy’s performance was a delightful mix of enthusiasm and skill,” Kim said. “Her ability to execute complex routines with confidence earned her first place in Australia in the 11 years section.”
“It is very exciting for mother and daughter to win in the same year,” said Kim Annesley, the head teacher at the Nepean Physie Club, which has centres in McGraths Hill, Londonderry and Werrington.
The club cleaned up more national titles while also bringing home silver and bronze medals which boosted the individual rankings.
Glenhaven local Lyn Lamont is a very inspiring role model for the older participants, being unbeatable in the over 70s category. Lyn has been a stalwart in the physie community for many years.
“Her dedication to the sport is evident not just in her performances but also in her passion for everything to do with Physie,” Kim said. “At the Nationals, Lyn showcased her skills with five routines that perfectly-blended grace, strength, expression, and technical precision, earning her first place on the podium.
“We are over the moon with the wonderful success as a club in 2024, with great results in both the individual and team section. Our 9 &10-year and 11 & 12-year teams took out the Overall Trophy in A Grade.”
The club is also celebrating the success of other high achievers at the nationals: Baulkham Hills local Adele McGuinness runner-up in the Over 60s to be ranked second in Australia; 17-old-old Ellerie Armstrong of Kurrajong ranks second in Australia; Mackenzie Tolar, 19, of Stanhope Gardens, ranks third in Australia; Bonnie Prydacz, 13, Blaxland East, is third and Melinda Prydacz of Blaxland East, is ranked fourth in the Over 40s.
