Motors for Miracles

If you love a good car show you won’t have to go this month.

Classic cars, muscle cars and super cars will be on show at the Roof top of the Hills Super Centre car park on Victoria Ave, Castle Hill on Sunday February 24.

Hundreds of cars will be part of the show which is being held to raise money for the Miracle Babies Foundation.

People can register their car on the day before 10am. There will be 16 trophies judged on the day.

The Motors for Miracles event has been organised by Ursula and Scott Renfrew after their second child, Paige, was born prematurely.

Ursula says the fundraising car show was a great way to combine her passion to “make a difference” with her husband’s Scott’s passion for classic cars… he owns a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro

Their parenthood journey took a detour when Ursula was just over 23 weeks pregnant when they were told her waters had broken. She was admitted to hospital and at 29 weeks Paige was born.

“Due to her being breech, no waters present and her heart rate dipping they decided to perform a Caesarean,” said Ursula.

But after Paige was whisked away for oxygen support, Ursula started having her own battle due to internal bleeding and underwent 12 transfusions. She nearly died.

Paige Willow, finally got to home to live with her big brother Hudson at 38 weeks gestation and after 9 weeks of being in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Paige will turn two years old in April and is, her mum says, “one cheeky monkey – climbing, running, trying to talk and smiling everywhere she goes”.

“We set up Motors for Miracles – Car Show as a way to raise much needed funds and awareness for the thousands of babies born sick or premature every year.

“The Miracle Babies Foundation were a vital part of our journey through the NICU. We would love to be able to give back to them so they can continue to do the important work in Hospitals and with families going through these tough times.”
